Skills & Thrills is the second in our series of three performance events for IEGA’s
recreational gymnasts this year! Our next one will take place in January of 2018.
At Skills & Thrills, your athlete will be working through a series of gymnastics performance stations spread out across the gym. At each station, athletes will earn stamps as they complete each skill, tracking their progress and working toward earning an event ribbon. When the event has been completed, each athlete will be presented with a ribbon, and when all 4 ribbons have been collected they move onto the award podium where they will receive a Skills & Thrills medal and a have their photo taken with their coach.
Unlike our Showcase, where students performed choreographed group floor routines, at
Skills & Thrills your children will be performing individually on the floor, bars,
beam, and vault (for girls) and floor, parallel bars, high bar, pommel horse, rings,
and vault (for boys).
There is not a specific “call time” for Skills & Thrills nor is there a designated audience area. Students and their families will be able to start their performance circuit at anytime during the assigned level time periods (see above), and spectators will be following their gymnast throughout the gym as he/she performs their skills on each apparatus.
